Another great win

Shaw Cross Sharks U16 girls v Orrell St James U16 girls
6th July 2019
Our game today was against Orrell St James at Shark Park.
We had already played them at their home and knew that they were a decent team, so were looking forward to the re-match
Orrell kicked off and went straight onto the attack but our girls dealt with it well.
After just 3 minutes we had the first set. The Sharks showed great skills in passing the ball along the line and Lauren Mowatt found herself with the ball and did what Lauren does best: Ran 50 yards and placed the ball over the line for her first try of the game.
Courtney Marsh scored from the tee to give the Sharks the lead.
Five minutes later Bella Murray, on her first start for the Sharks, scored her first try for the team after getting hold of a great grubber kick from Courtney, who also converted Bella’s try.
Great reactions from Bella!
Directly from the restart Sharks were given a penalty after Orrell failed to kick 10 yards.
Lydia Fawkes ha the ball and went over the line to add 4 points to the total, Courtney, who really had her kicking head on, added another 2.
There were periods of more pressure from the Sharks but there were no more scores.

Half time Sharks 18 Orrell 0
Sharks kicked off the second half and it seemed that Orrell were more comfortable than they were in the first half.
This lasted for 4 minutes before Mya Taylor made a strong carry to add four more points to the total.
Courtney “Golden Boots” Marsh turned the 4 into a 6 and Sharks were well on top at 24 – 0.
After 10 minutes Courtney put in a high, spiralling kick on 5th tackle which bounced over Orrell’s try line for Ebony to dive on the ball and score a great try.
Orrell scored their only try in the corner after a few good runs and passes, but the Sharks answered almost immediately with some really good teamwork.
Fast hands and quick play the ball allowed Lauren to show her speed again and she placed the ball under the posts. Courtney again converted the four points into six.
Orrell had one more attack but Rosie Brentnall dropped on their kick on 5th to get the ball back for the Sharks.
Full Time Sharks 34 Orrell 4
A brilliant game yet again. The girls are playing extremely well and showing some fantastic team work and skill.
Really looking forward to our next game at Illingworth on Saturday 13th July
Come on Sharks!
