SHEERWATER 7 – 0 BRITISH AIRWAYS

On a real poor night for the weather, rain, sleet, freezing cold the Sheers produced a good performance for the 35 brave supporters even Keith disbanded the Burger Bar due to flooding and the danger of health & safety issues. It was British Airways‘s first match with Sheerwater having joined the CCL this season after winning trophies in the Middlesex Leagues. Sheers produced a fine display with Timmy Taylor scoring a hat trick and also claimed the man of the match award from the match sponsors. Sheers were at the BA goal after only 3 minutes after the craft from Hegs, Timmy, Danny and Luke that eventually gave the Sheers a corner. 5mins a shot from BA that Sheers keeper Rider goes down to save. 5mins a Shane Cheeseman cross is taken out well by the BA keeper Perry Cheedle. 7mins Sheers keeper Andy Rider gives the ball away to BA that produces a corner for the visitor’s after the initial shot is blocked. 12mins Sheers take a 1-0 lead through top scorer Shane Rideout anticipating and reacting quickly to score at the near post after Timmy Taylor crossed ball into the box. The Sheers defenders were in no mood to give BA anything on a number of attacks but BA looked positively on their attack after a good advantage played by referee Mark Edwards. 19mins Sheers make it 2-0 Luke Taylor brought the ball down well and delivered the perfect pass that Danny Taylor raced onto and curled a delightful shot into the far corner of the net. 24mins Sheers go 3-0 up with Timmy Taylor’s shot cannons off the post but Timmy follows up to rifle the ball home. 25mins Danny Taylor goes off injured, George Dore’ is his replacement. 30mins BA gets a soft free kick that produces a shot over the bar. 32mins Sheers are on fire as they net number 4 with a great finish from Shane Cheeseman. 33mins BA under pressure knock one off the line as Tom Hegarty is about to score. Half Time 4-0.
BA come out and play with more confidence that the Sheers soak up and were in the mood for more goals taking the tally to 5-0 on 61 minutes with a delightful lob by Timmy Taylor’s second goal of the match. 62mins Ollie McAleese makes way for Andy Rothwell for a Sheers substitution. 63mins BA attack in numbers that the Sheers clear their lines. 65mins Sheers Tom Hegarty is substituted for Andrew Charles. 78mins BA best effort comes from no 9 Edwin Cameron who lets fly from distance that the Sheers keeper Andy Rider has to tip over the bar. 82 mins Sheers Andy Rider comes a BA player for the second time in the match making a mess of not clearing that gives the BA a chance for a goal that they make a mess of and fire the ball wide of the Sheers goal. 85mins Shane Rideout's header is deflected out for a Sheers corner. 87 minutes 6-0 Timmy Taylor fires home with a left foot bullet over the BA keeper for a very deserves hat trick. 89mins Shane Rideout burst’s through the BA defence but is unlucky as his effort hits the far post. Minutes later on 90+2 Shane makes up for his previous miss and fires home for the Sheers seventh goal after a great ball into him from Shane Cheeseman.
