First of all, a massive thank you to the hardy team who turned out on Saturday 15th May to plant the hedges. It was a thoroughly wet day as the pictures below confirm but the spirit and commitment was fantastic. We managed to get all 420 saplings safely planted! Below is some information on how you can still get involved with our fantastic century celebration.
Sponsor A Sapling
There is still the opportunity to sponsor a planted sapling for £10, 50% of which will go to the club and 50% to Teenage Cancer Trust.
If you do wish to sponsor a sapling, please pay for as many saplings as you wish to sponsor at £10.00 each to the Club’s subscription account:
Please mark the payment with the reference “Hedge”. We will identify and treat 50% as a donation to the club and 50% as a donation to Lulu's Teenage Cancer Trust. We will also make a note of all those who have sponsored saplings.
This opportunity will be available until the End of June, after which we will move onto the next step in celebrating the Centenary Hedge.
The club will take responsibility for ensuring that, once we know everyone who wants to sponsor their sapling(s), we will create and fix in place permanent plaques at both hedge sites. These will specifically thank The Woodland Trust, our main hedge sponsor GRI Group and then individual sponsors from within the club. They will also recognise our donation to Lulu’s Teenage Cancer Trust. Charles Day Steels, one of our club sponsors, has offered help out by making and donating the plaques!
We hope as many people as possible will feel motivated to support this commemoration and celebration.
