Sheffield were lucky to have Andy Hodgson back at fly half after he was injured in the cup clash at Huddersfield on the 15th October and looking particularly strong when Joe Cribley was named at outside centre. However, the late withdrawal of Cribley and that captain, Dom Parsons arrived for the match with a bug of some description meant some late charges leaving to some further late changes. Parsons dropped to the bench with Ryan Seabright moving up into the second row from the bench. Ben Shore came into the team at outside centre for Cribley and Brad Chandler came into the squad on the bench.

The match began and continued in a highly confrontational fashion giving the referee quite a lot to deal with and for the early period of the match the visitors were proving very difficult to hold at bay. However, slowly but surely Sheffield began to get a foothold in the proceedings and to control the exchanges. With 18 minutes gone, Sheffield were awarded a penalty on or around the Towcestrians 22 meter line. Scrum half Steve Depledge converted and the lead was a mere 3 points to nil. Sheffield were back in the points just six minutes later with Steve Depledge adding a second penalty to move the score to 6 points to nil. However Sheffield cause was not helped a few minutes later when Steve Depledge had to be substituted by Brad Chandler after being injured in an incident following he made a good break down the right. Towcestrians did not however, do themselves any favours when their second row, Kieran Frost was sent to the Sin Bin on 36 minutes. Sheffield were unable to capitalise before half time and the referee wrapped it up at 6 points to nil at half time.

Sheffield however, put the pressure on after the break and were rewarded when the wrecking ball we call Tobi Amemakin went over on the left just four minutes into the half. Andy Hodgson added the conversion and the lead was out to 13 points to nil. Sheffield made several telling breaks, which may have easily led to scores, but Towcestrians defence was extremely resolute and the danger was snuffed out without them conceding. It was noticeable that Sheffield were beginning to dominate at both scrum and line out with a number of steals in both areas. Towcestrians received their second yellow card on 57 minutes when the open side flanker, Callum Threllfall was sent to the bin and Andy Hodgson converted the penalty to take the lead out to 16 points to nil. Sheffield were themselves received a yellow card to Ryan Seabright, but Towcestrians were unable to take any advantage and the score remained unchanged, With barely 4 minutes left Towcestrians second row Kieran Frost was handed red card, apparently for something he said to the referee, but Sheffield could not increase their tally of points and the referee decided we had all had enough.
