This was the first game for both team this season following Stockport winning their County Cup at the end of last season.
As ever a warm welcome and a game played in the right spirit with both teams debuting a number of new players.
Sheffield started the brighter with two early tries catching Stockport off guard with a high level of intensity from the whistle, a testament to the pre season work done by the boys. Stockport fought back to level the scores early in the second half and only fell away in the last quarter when they suffered a couple of injuries to key players and Sheffield ran in a few break away tries from their own half.
Well done to both teams on the quality of the rugby played after a long Summer and good luck to Stockport for the rest of the season, for Sheffield this is a great start and something to now build on.
