Club Information

Sheffield Medicals RUFC are a thriving grass roots amateur rugby club founded by students at the university in 1964. We field 3 competitive teams every weekend and have enjoyed previously unparalleled success in recent years, with more members competing at a higher standard of rugby than ever before.

The 1st XV are currently pushing for promotion from Yorkshire 2 and have been promoted 3 times in the 4 previous years.

The 2nd XV play in Yorkshire’s top merit league and this season reached the quarter finals of the NAMS cup competition, despite playing against other medical schools’
1st teams.

The 3rd XV play every weekend in the Yorkshire Merit league and against other University teams and local teams, but with more players signing up every year, the club is looking to expand and create a 4th XV.

The club is thriving socially and is one of the most prominent around the university
campus, with players from all courses and year groups. The club hosts weekly socials alongside 4 additional larger events through the year, including an Old Boys dinner.
