We run three teams playing competitive fixtures almost every weekend against teams
within Yorkshire. With Our 1st XV playing in Yorkshire 3, providing high quality
competitive rugby. Our 2nd and 3rd XV play in merit leagues against more local teams
including Engineers and History society teams the 2nd XV play in the Southern
Championship and the 3rd XV play in the YRUFC southern merit table.
Along with Yorkshire league fixtures we also enter National Medical School Cup
competitions. Over the past few years we have seen success in these fixtures by
winning the cup final in 2014 and the 7s competition tournament in 2016. Our 2019/20
season was strong with our 1st and 2nd XV reaching the quarterfinals of their
respective leagues of NAMs, going into the next season with the belief that we can
push for the final and gain trophies this coming season.

General Information:

We have strength and conditioning on Mondays and whole-squad training on Tuesdays. If you are selected to play in one of our three teams then there is a Captains run
on Friday. Having matches on a Saturday gives us a great opportunity to head to socials
which are run weekly by three social secs, ending the week of rugby in the best way
possible - POPTARTS at the students union! Socials are loads of fun and they even have an
occasional theme to keep things interesting, it always makes for a great night out.
We are a friendly team with no initiations, and welcome new members regardless of
experience. Our strong coaching setup of three coaches means we have consistent and high
standard training weekly, as well as specific focus on our development and 3 rd team
players. Anyone can join the team, not just medics. In fact last season we had roughly a
50/50 split of medics to not, with many engineering, economics, politics (just to name a
few) students joining the team for some quality rugby and a great laugh.
