It was a very strong and bitter wind that was blowing across the field at Bawtry Road on Saturday - most other sports were off! Steelers entertained Manchester Waconians, who had beaten Heaton Mersey a couple of weeks before. Sheffield had George Ievers returning from injury and Ashley Mills in his first game of the season.
The first quarter was a tentative affair after an early goal for the home side but finished 1-1.
Then Sheffield got into gear and put 5 goals away to WACS single. Rhys Jeffrey was commanding the face-off and earned Man-of-the-Match for his effort.
Steelers pushed on in the final 2 quarters with only the occasional threat from WACS finishing 15-5 to the good. Ben Lyon led the scoring with 5 goals, whilst George Ievers and Will Hardy both picking up hat-tricks. Nat Hardy, Ben Stringer, Tom Dale and Jon Gill also getting on the scoresheet. Great all round performance.
