The old girls of the club, plus Rachel and Hannah F took to the pitch on a sunny afternoon to face Earls Barton, (a small town in Northamptonshire). A distinct aroma of deep heat could be smelt emanating across the pitch but this soon evaporated as the game got under way. S&S dominated play and the youthful front line of Harling, Higginson and Alexander piled on the pressure as EB found it difficult to clear the ball. It wasn’t long before Irvine, combining well with Felly and Bartram scored the first of S&S’s six goals. Fury soon added another 2 goals as EB’s tactic of hitting the ball as hard and as far as possible, failed miserably. Cullip and the impenetrable Wainwright were rarely troubled in defence. And Shazza in goal only touched the ball a couple of times. Young Captain Grainger galvanised the team at halftime and tired limbs were soon forgotten as Hall added goal number 4, after latching onto Cullip’s fierce cross. Alexander made it 5 with a superb strike from top of the D. Felly then fed poacher Harling for goal number 6. A well earned result after a great afternoon of hockey. GoG went to Felly. Thanks to our supporters for all your encouragement on the sideline and to Paulette for organising the fixture. Next game is on 16 December.
