November 2020's Volunteers of the Month are Marsha Wyman, Ali Burd, John 'Clem' Clements & Beverley Small

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they have the heart
- Elizabeth Andrews

The Adcock Volunteer of the Month award is designed to recognise and reward some of the great volunteer work that takes place at Shelford Rugby Club. With so much fantastic work being carried out by so many brilliant people, it's difficult to cover absolutely everything and we wish we could reward everyone.

Marsha Wyman - You will often find Marsha cooking in the kitchen, serving food from the hatch or drinks from the bar. Marsha's son plays in the Under 15s but this has never stopped Marsha from helping other age groups or even on Saturdays during senior rugby matches or club events. Whatever the occasion, you can always rely on Marsha when you need an enthusiastic volunteer!

Ali Burd - Ali is our Mini & Youth First Aid coordinator. She joined the committee and took this important role about a year ago. Her job involves ordering first aid kits and top ups to make sure we never run out of plasters, bandages, tape etc... She also has the important task of sending monthly reports of injuries and concussions to the RFU and organising training for the new volunteers wishing to be first aiders. Finally in the last 3 months, Ali made sure that her army of first aiders could continue administering first aid safely by ordering gloves, face masks and aprons for everyone.

However, we've nailed November's nominees down to the following four people because of their outstanding work over the past four weeks:

Beverley Small - Bev is an Under 15 parent who joined the Mini & Youth Committee a year and a half ago as a rep for her son's age group. She then realised the work that was going on behind the scenes and decided to become more involved. Since then she has been our Youth Registrar and has processed many new memberships or helped parents to navigate their way through GMS.

John Clements - aka "Clem", John is a long-standing playing member of the club. Clem is also Captain of the "Mighty Fifths", one of our "social" teams on the Men's senior side of the club. In normal times, his role means that he gets in touch with the opposition and organises his players for their Saturday fixtures, brings their kit, balls, etc... as well as keeping their social calendar alive! Last month, Clem and other senior players volunteered to spend their Sunday morning refereeing our Junior fixtures against Cambridge, providing a link between the adult and junior sections of our Club.
