is BACK!

At Shelford Rugby Club our aim is to provide opportunities for everyone who wants to get involved in being active and to those who love rugby. We are so pleased to be able to offer Walking and Touch Rugby for a fun and social way to get exercise.

Walking Rugby
What to expect
Walking Rugby is aimed at ex-players, those who are injured or for people who have never played and want to try something new. Exercising outside has excellent health benefits, and this is a less-intense way to play a team sport.

The Rules of the Game
As it says in the name, Walking Rugby means no running – walking determined by one foot on the ground at any time when in motion
No contact – similar to ‘touch rugby’ rules – two hands on the waistband is all the contact made which qualifies as a tackle.
Scrummaging – Max 3 players per team stood in upright standing position and non-contested.
Passing backwards or lateral – offside rules apply
A try requires no bending – you walk across the try line ball in hand.
Most importantly – have fun!

Who is it for?
We welcome men and women, whether you’ve played before or not we welcome everyone whatever their ability.

When is it and how much is it?
Join us every Monday from 6pm until 7pm. If you’re a Member of Shelford Rugby Club – it’s free. If you’re not, it will be £5 per session, and you can pay by card when you arrive.

Touch Rugby

What to Expect
Touch Rugby offers an opportunity for a more relaxed, less intense game of rugby for players of all abilities. We welcome you to come and have a go!

The Rules of the Game
Touch instead of tackle. Six touches, before the ball is given to the other team. Normally 6 or 7 aside. A fun non-contact version of the game.

Who is it for?
Our earlier session is aimed at under 16s (down to age ?) our later session is from 16+

Both men and women can join us whatever your ability.

When is it and how much is it?
Join us every Monday, for our younger age group, join us from 6pm until 7pm. For over 16s join us from 7pm-8pm. If you’re a Member of Shelford Rugby Club – it’s free. If you’re not, it will be £5 per session, and you can pay by card when you arrive.

We’re really proud of our Community Rugby opportunities. We offer a fantastic relaxed, social environment has been created, reducing incidences of social isolation amongst those taking part.
