Shelford Sharks Vs Royston
14 v 14 took to the field of play this week, due to illness and absentees. Royston began with the
better play, forwards working well, in pods, taking the ball up to the Sharks defence. Within 3 mins
Alex Illingworth was injured during a committed tackle and had to retire from the pitch. Royston
continued with possession after the injury break and shortly after scored their first try and converted it.
Once more Royston surged forward, building momentum quickly and scoring once again. This could
have troubled the Sharks - both teams now with 13 players each - but the Sharks started to begin to play
better and better. The full complement of forwards started to go through the gears with a cheeky
Vincent Yip drawing the Royston defence into offside positions at the rucks. The backs had to cover
a lot of ground, but going forward, Billy White, Felix Brown, Elliot Pratt and Charlie Heal used there
During the whole game Charlie Heal ran in 5 tries - 2 kicked through, 1 interception, and 2 through
the backline passing out to the wing.
The Forwards did claim some glory for themselves. A couple of phases after a lineout and Ali Goodman
drove over the line to score, very pleased with himself.
Roystons players remained up for the game and forced their way over shortly before full time.
