Shelford 70 – Ely 0
A flurry of tries to end the season on a high
Shelford had the advantage of fielding two full teams for a final game of the season against a valiant Ely side – so there was a complete substitution of the home team at half time.
In the first half, after some keenly contested midfield play early on Shelford started the move the ball around the pitch to great effect. The forwards did their job, turning the ball over at regular intervals and allowed the backs to run in 6 unanswered tries through Dante Frost, Harry Calne, Harry Chater, Ryley Brown and a brace for Isaac Dear.
In the second half the home side played some clinical rugby using their speed out wide and their strength through midfield to cause the visitors all sorts of problems. Scott Revell, Alex Lee, Utku Cihan and Samuel Arbon were soon on the scoresheet to extend Shelford’s lead and as Ely tired late on George Shannon (2), Kyle Harris and Ari Fogh completed a thoroughly comprehensive victory.
