A brace for White...

Sunday saw Shelford U13’s take on Colchester, one of the larger clubs in the area.

The coaches split the players into A & B squads for the 1st time this season in preparation for a County Festival next week. The A team looked very strong in the forwards, dominating scrums and rucking well, giving the platform to go on and score tries with none conceded, one move taking in the whole width of the pitch  - scores by Billy White a brace, Dylan Samujh, Ben Carey, Joey Taylor.

In really pleasing fashion the B team rose to the occasion with many players stepping up to take on the play. Their presentation of the ball and excellent support play enabled the team to retain possession through many phases and it was great to see the ball being passed through the backs leading to 3 scores (tries by Ed Naylor, Ben Swinton and Sam Hartwright).  Neither team looked like conceding at any stage, testament to the discipline in the defensive lines and the ferocious tackling all over the pitch. A well deserved 40-0 victory across the 2 fixtures sets gives the team a confidence boost going into next weekend’s tournament.
