Match Preview

Shenley face Roman Rangers in the first round of the league cup this weekend.

Last season in the cup, Shenley beat Scot FC and Linslade Galaxy before narrowing losing 3-2 to Newport Pagnell Knights in the semi-finals.

Deatails of the Cup
This competition is known as The Milton Keynes and Border Counties Youth Football U18 League Knockout Cup 2019-20. If the game ends as a draw, thirty minutes of extra time will be played (fifteen minutes each way). If the scores are still level after extra time, a penalty shootout will take place.

The winner will progress to the quarter-finals. Their opponents will be determined by a random draw next week. The full cup draw is available to view here.

The Opposition
Divison 1 Roman Rangers have won all four of their games this season, scoring twenty-eight goals in total. As a result, they have won U18 Grading A and are into the third round of the county cup. They have 16 players signed on this season and their captain is Ewan Keene.

Last Time Out
Last week, Shenley drew 2-2 against Scot FC away from home. Connor Dempsey scored both goals for Shenley.

On 20th October, Roman Rangers won 5-1 against Aylesbury Vale Dynamos U17 at home in the second round of the county cup.

Team News
Shenley have 16 players signed on for this season. Last season's top scorer and Players' Player Mohammed Edris is set to make his first appearance for the Phantoms in over six months. Shenley will have 15 players in their matchday squad, with Captain Benjy Asare, winger Joel Smith and new signing Connor Dempsey starting as subs. The line-up will be released soon.

Fighting Talk
Defender Zakir Kassam: "It’s going to be a very difficult game and no one is expecting us to come away with a victory. But if we put in 100% effort and keep a solid backline, then we may cause an upset."

Defender Damon Smith:: "It will probably be a tough challenge but I reckon we can pull out a win if everyone tries their hardest. Hopefully Mohammed can get a goal on his debut this season."

Midfielder Kian Robinson: "I think that after last week's top draw performance, we have a good chance of pulling off what some people might call an upset. Come on boys!"

Officials
Sam Waterhouse will take charge of the Phantoms this Sunday. This will be Sam's first time refereeing both teams and his sixth game in charge this season.

Head to Head
These two teams have never played each other before.

Weather Forecast
Sunny intervals and light winds are expected throughout the game. Temperatures are expected to be around 9°C. There is a very low (4%) chance of rain during the match. Visibility will be good. [Source: BBC]
