PREVIEW: SHEPSHED DYNAMO V CHASETOWN

Shepshed Newsdesk25 Mar 2023 - 11:00

By Kevin Gibson

Today Shepshed Dynamo entertain Chasetown at The Dovecote Stadium in the Pitching in Northern Premier League Midland Division kick off 3pm.

With the Premier League and Championship on an international break today is the annual National Non League Day.

Non League Day was introduced to encourage those who would normally go to a professional game to take a look at their local team. Many clubs are offering discounts or incentives today but after speaking with the Club Chairman yesterday Shepshed Dynamo will charge the usual admission. The club would like to welcome the extra support but also doesn't want to be unfair to its loyal supporters who follow the club regularly.

An entertaining game is anticipated as there are only two places separating the two sides. Shepshed will be looking to continue their three match unbeaten run especially after their fantastic 1-0 away win at second place Halesowen Town last week courtesy of debutant Joel Nketia.

A Dynamo win and a Harborough Town defeat away at Spalding United would see us move up one place. We would also go level on points with our visitors but it would take a heavy victory to overhaul their superior goal difference.

Chasetown themselves are on a four game unbeaten run and lie seventh in the league having played 31, won 16, drew 6 and lost 9 scoring 58 conceding 33 on 54 points.

In the last five games The Scholars have won 3 ( Daventry Town 2-1 away, Spalding United 1-0 away and Gresley Rovers 3-0 at home in midweek), drew 1 (Coleshill Town 1-1 away) and lost 1 ( Stamford 3-2 away. Last Saturday's game was also abandoned at home to Hinckley Leicester Road due to the torrential rain which we also saw whilst celebrating our win at Halesowen.

The two teams have met ten times before Shepshed winning two, Chasetown three and five draws. The teams met earlier in the season at The Scholars Ground with Chasetown winning 1-0 with top goal scorer Jack Langston ( on 20) scoring for the third consecutive game against Shepshed from the penalty spot. All of Dynamo's squad remain from that game and eight Chasetown town players are still with them. They have also bolstered their squad in the last week with the signing of Kieran Berry and Joe Cuff from Bromsgrove Sporting.

Admission to The Dovecote Stadium today is £10 for Adults, £6 concessions and £2 under 18's with Supporters Club members getting a pound knocked off.

The clubhouse will be open from 12 and happy hour is between 12 and 2. The club diner will be open selling hot and cold food and drink and the club shop will be open selling an array of merchandise and supporters club members receiving a discount on purchases.

Programmes are on sale just inside the ground £2.50 along with the Goalden goal £1 a go first and last goal count towards the winnings.

If you can not make it up the Butthole today live updates will be on the club's official Twitter page and the BWA on Tour Facebook page. You can follow all the action from around the league on Football Webpages and the league's official website.

Enjoy the game and join us in the Clubhouse afterwards where you could win some money on the Supporters Club 50/50 card.
