Dynamo were playing down the slope in the first half, but it was the home side that almost took the lead inside the opening minute. Former Shepshed striker Royce Turville found himself in acres of space on the left, but was only able to steer his shot straight at Rich Williams.
Within two minutes though, Dynamo were in front. Intelligent play from midfielder Dave Timmins split the high Gresley FC defence for Danny Gaunt to speed through on goal and fire past another ex-Shepshed player Simon Baldwin. The home keeper did well to get a hand to the ball, but the power behind the shot proved to be too much.
Stefan Marshall was the next Gresley FC player to find himself thwarted by Williams, who superbly blocked the lanky home forward's well-struck 15th minute effort.
Shepshed were mounting wave after wave of attacks on the home goal, but time and again were caught out by marginal offside decisions as they tried to thread their way through the square Gresley FC defence.
On 25 minutes, the home side felt aggrieved at not being awarded a penalty, however Turville's unneccesarily spectacular dive probably swayed the referee's decision against him.
Baldwin was in the thick of the action on the half-hour mark when an Eric Graves free-kick to the far edge of the 6-yard box was headed towards goal by Timmins, but very well saved at full stretch.
Livewire Gaunt was at the centre of all things good for Shepshed, his tricky skills proving too much for his unfortunate marker on numerous occasions. After bamboozling three home defenders on a typically mazy run, Gaunt's curling shot fizzed narrowly wide of an upright in the 39th minute.
Just two minutes later, Dynamo came as close as you can get when Gaunt crossed to the far post where Ian Robinson's header beat Baldwin but bounced against the post and was cleared behind by a home defender.
Almost immediately, Graves unleashed a 25-yeard speculative effort that once again went agonisingly wide of the target.
The numerous missed opportunities were to haunt Shepshed right at the start of the second half, as Gresley FC turned the game on it's head.
Within a minute of the restart, Turville delivered an inviting cross for substitute Callum Keenan to shoot across and past Williams.
Then a further three minutes later the home side were in front when a goalmouth scramble saw Turville in the right place to get a toe to the ball and net in off the post.
Shepshed continued to play their neat inter-passing that has been such a feature of pre-season, but a lack of clinical finishing meant that it came to nothing. In the 55th minute Luke Barlone linked well with Gaunt before setting up Chad Sheppard who shaved the far post from a tight angle.
Substitutions were then coming thick and fast, upsetting the pattern of play for Shepshed, who made no less than 7 changes in the second half.
On 66 minutes though, Dynamo really should have restored parity when Adam Jones delivered his latest in a sequence of low crosses into the home 6-yard box. However Mark Williams could only look on in disbelief after he scuffed his shot from close range and saw it skew wide.
Against the run of play, on 72 minutes Gresley FC extended thir advantage and put the game beyond Shepshed's reach . Carl Slater beat two players before cross to the far post where Marshall had the easiest of chances to nod the ball home.
Still Shepshed poured forward, but wayward finishing from Williams and Morris meant that the final scoreline at a rainlashed Castle Gresley had a very lop-sided look to it.
