Shepshed Dynamo travelled to Pack Meadow on Monday night looking to end a run of narrow defeats, while Coleshill Town entered the match in strong form, having won four of their previous five outings.

The hosts began brightly, forcing Dynamo onto the back foot early on. After just eight minutes, Harry Sweeney showed neat footwork on the edge of the box but dragged his shot wide. However, the pressure soon told. On 11 minutes, Sweeney’s long throw caused chaos in the Shepshed area and found Daniel Brookes arriving at the back post to fire home from close range.

Carter-Byrne then missed a guilt edged chance, diving in to meet Usher-Shipway’s free kick, but his header went over the top from close range.

Coleshill continued to press, and just four minutes later they doubled their lead. Jowan Partridge’s impressive last-ditch sliding challenge prevented Lewis Allison from breaking clear, but Sweeney’s resulting corner from the right was met at the near post by captain Taylor Carter-Byrne. His glancing header nestled into the far corner beyond Dan Wallis. The hosts were full of confidence and showing it.

It took 30 minutes for Shepshed to find their rhythm. Dylan Reason’s clever flick teed up Jesse Friend, whose low effort from distance was tipped round the post by Cameron Belford. The visitors continued to build momentum as Aaron Korpal’s driven cross found Jude Collins at the far post, but his miss-hit shot went wide under pressure.

After the restart, Dynamo came out the stronger side. Callum Burkey’s free kick found Reason six yards out, but he didn’t fully connect with a header that flashed past the upright. Moments later, Friend and Jack Rogers combined neatly, with Rogers forcing a sharp stop from Belford low to his right.

At the other end, Sweeney’s deep cross picked out Ben Usher-Shipway, who sent a header inches wide.

Dynamo pushed hard late on and were unlucky not to halve the deficit in stoppage time. Substitute Josh Allen’s cross from the left was met by Reason on the turn, his half-volley brilliantly tipped onto the post by Belford with a superb save.

Despite a strong second-half display, Shepshed were left to rue a slow start, as Coleshill’s early two-goal burst and impressive rearguard proved decisive making it 4 wins and 4 clean sheets in a row for The Colemen. Dynamo will now look to respond back on home soil when they host Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday.
