Both sides entered the afternoon desperate to end their poor runs of form, with both Shepshed Dynamo and Boldmere St Michaels seeking to halt a four game losing run.

Dynamo nearly made the perfect start within the opening minute as Callum Burkey’s through ball sent Jesse Friend clear, but the forward’s left-footed strike rolled agonisingly wide of the far post.

The visitors nearly went ahead in bizarre fashion shortly after — Brown’s long clearance bounced awkwardly over a stranded Dan Wallis, forcing Jack Samples into a superb sliding clearance off the line.

Dynamo responded quickly, as Friend darted down the right, weaving through defenders before his driven cross was beaten away by Brown with Collins lurking close by.

Boldmere’s best chance of the half came on the half-hour mark when Freddie Cockerell raced onto a long ball. Wallis rushed off his line, forcing the forward to lift the ball just wide. The Dynamo keeper received a yellow card for the collision, with visiting players appealing for a red.

After the break, Shepshed continued to press. Peart’s long throw was flicked on by Friend, falling to Aaron Korpal at the back post, but the winger volleyed over from close range. Boldmere came back with a spell of pressure, as Charlie Manners fired a drive from distance that Wallis gathered comfortably.

Shepshed continued to probe, and on 69 minutes Collins’ corner was met by Peart again, but his header was straight at Brown.

The Mikes almost punished Dynamo moments later when Cockerell muscled past Jowan Partridge and set up Jayden Bailey-Hunter, who flashed a strike just wide of the far post.

Then, on 85 minutes, the breakthrough. Collins shifted the ball inside the box and was tripped as he looked to shoot, referee David Constable pointed straight to the spot. Collins dusted himself off and confidently rolled the penalty into the bottom-left corner, sending Brown the wrong way and sparking elation around The Dovecote.

Dynamo held firm through stoppage time to claim a deserved and much-needed victory, their first in five games with their next fixture being a Friday Night trip to Mickleover
