Shepshed Dynamo’s bright start counted for little as Boldmere St Michaels came from behind to claim a 3-1 victory at the Dovecote Stadium.

Dynamo needed just two minutes to break the deadlock. Kyle Dixon’s inviting ball sent Jack Butterfill into the box, and after driving beyond his man, the winger picked out Jiah Medrano, who made no mistake from close range.

Shepshed threatened a second soon after when Butterfill beat his man and saw his powerful effort take a deflection and fly just wide.

But the visitors responded quickly. Harrison’s long ball was flicked into the path of Frankie Ealing, who spotted Jake Williams off his line and produced a composed lob to level the contest in the 11th minute.

Dynamo continued to carry a threat, with Ethan Baynham producing a superb pass for Butterfill, whose cross narrowly evaded Medrano’s head. Dixon then combined with Josh Burniston before firing over from distance.

Boldmere finished the half strongly and should perhaps have gone in front when Ealing found Tolani Omotola inside the area. Omotola turned Ben Britton, but Williams was equal to his effort, making an excellent low save to keep the scores level at the break.

The game remained finely poised after the interval, but Boldmere eventually found the breakthrough in the 73rd minute.

Omotola flicked Jack Lynch’s long pass into the path of Kyle Byrne, who flashed the ball across the face of goal for John Atherton to arrive at the back post and finish.

The visitors struck again just six minutes later. Jack Burgess exploited space down the right before pulling the ball back into the area, where Kyle Byrne added a composed finish to grab a goal of his own.

Shepshed looked for a route back into the game, but Boldmere’s defence held firm. James O’Neill briefly threatened a fourth after bursting through on goal, only for Williams to produce a good one-on-one save.

Dynamo had one final opening in stoppage time when John McHugh won possession from Aris Christophorou and attempted to lob Adam Harrison, but the Boldmere goalkeeper smothered the effort to ensure there would be no late twist.
