Shepshed Dynamo produced a devastating attacking display at Pack Meadow, scoring five goals to secure an emphatic victory over Coleshill Town, with Jack Butterfill stealing the headlines after netting four times.
Dynamo could hardly have asked for a better start, taking the lead inside four minutes after George Cleet went to ground under pressure and handled the ball, expecting a free kick but instead the referee pointed to the spot for a Shepshed penalty. Butterfill stepped up and smashed his effort past Cameron Belford, who got a touch but couldn’t prevent the opener.
The visitors doubled their advantage in the 13th minute when Jiah Medrano got in front of Belford, stealing possession before lifting the ball towards the back post. Bassit Mandey, attempting to deal with the delivery, could only head into his own net.
Dynamo were in complete control and added a third four minutes later. Taylor Wyse was played through down the left and delivered an excellent cross to the far post, where Butterfill arrived to finish emphatically and claim his second of the afternoon.
Shepshed continued to threaten, with Medrano picking out captain Declan Peart in the 21st minute, although his header was directed straight at Belford.
Coleshill looked for a response before the interval, with Charlie Manners firing straight at debutant Goalkeeper Liam Coyne and William Marshall forcing a close-range opportunity, but the Dynamo shotstopper and Ethan Baynham combined to keep the hosts at bay.
After the break, Butterfill nearly turned provider when he won possession and drove forward before releasing Wyse one-on-one, but Belford produced a good save to deny the forward.
Coleshill were handed a route back into the contest when Peart brought down his man inside the penalty area. Charlie Manners converted the resulting spot-kick in the 57th minute, sending his effort straight down the middle.
The hosts threatened again as Cleet met a long throw, only for Coyne to tip his effort over the crossbar. The goalkeeper was called into action once more in the 65th minute, pushing away Ben Usher-Shipway’s strike from distance.
However, Dynamo responded in ruthless fashion, with substitute James Tague making an immediate impact. Having entered the action 30 seconds previous, Tague delivered a sensational cross from the left in the 68th minute, allowing Butterfill to smash home at the back post and complete his hat-trick.
Just two minutes later, the pair combined again in almost identical fashion. Tague broke down the left and supplied another pinpoint delivery, with Butterfill once again in the right place to finish and take his tally to four goals.
Dynamo continued to search for more, with Josh Halliday pulling the ball back for Tague in the 79th minute, but his effort was straight at Belford. John McHugh then tested the goalkeeper with a well-struck effort before Tague nearly capitalised on a poor back pass in the closing stages, only for Belford to palm his powerful shot away.
Despite Coleshill’s second half response, Dynamo’s attacking quality proved decisive. Four goals from Butterfill and own goal send Shepshed in to Tuesday’s home clash with St Ives Town full of confidence.
