Shepshed Dynamo were forced to settle for a point following a goalless draw away at Corby Town, despite creating several promising opportunities in an entertaining encounter at Steel Park.
Dynamo started brightly and had opportunities to take the lead inside the opening 15 minutes. Reece Massey delivered an excellent cross in the 11th minute which found Ethan Baynham, but his close-range header drifted wide. Moments later, Bayliss knocked the ball down for Baynham again, although his first-time volley also failed to find the target.
James Tague then won possession, passing up the opportunity to shoot and looked to square the ball for Josh Halliday, but Corby goalkeeper Milai Perrott read the attempted pass well and intercepted.
The visitors continued to threaten, with Tague particularly influential in the attacking areas. In the 34th minute, his delivery flashed across the face of goal, but Jiah Medrano was unable to get enough contact to turn it home from close range. Josh Burniston subsequently found Massey, whose curling effort narrowly missed the target.
A minute later, Tague produced a clever disguised pass to release Jack Butterfill, whose low strike towards the near post was brilliantly saved by Perrott.
Corby threatened before the interval when Ryan Boothe received a delivery from the left, but Jake Williams was equal to his effort with a good save.
The hosts came closer after the restart, with George Hobbins firing wide from distance before Ben Challinor produced the afternoon’s closest effort in the 58th minute, sending a superb curling strike against the crossbar.
Dynamo continued searching for a breakthrough, with Burniston finding Butterfill in the 72nd minute, whose low effort narrowly missed the far post.
Corby threatened late on, Jordan Crawford played in Hobbins, but an excellent defensive block from Kyle Dixon diverted the effort behind.
Neither side could find a decisive breakthrough, and Dynamo ultimately had to settle for a share of the points following a competitive afternoon at Steel Park.
