Shepshed Dynamo's one hundred percent record fell at the thirteenth hurdle at the hands of local rivals Quorn losing 2-1 at Farley Way

The defeat still leaves Dynamo six points clear at the top of the Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division.

Shepshed took an early first half lead with a Liam Hurst's free kick but Quorn equalised on the stroke of half time through Joseph Brothwell. With Rackeem Reid scoring their second on seventy minutes and despite sustained pressure Quorn held onto to claim local bragging rights and claim the mantle of the first team to beat Dynamo in league action.

Shepshed started brightly using their width to great advantage. Dynamo had the ball in the back of the net as early as four minutes Matt Melbourne flicked on but Reece Morris was deemed to be offside. A minute later the woodwork came to Quorns rescue as Matt Melbourne's effort came crashing back off the hosts crossbar with Max Culverwell beaten. Dynamo continued the early pressure with Morris effort blocked on seven minutes.

Quorns first real chance came on nine minutes with Richard Whyman off target.

Dynamo took the lead on twelve minutes. They were given a free kick on the edge of the box Hurst being fouled by Max Foster. Hurst's low driven free kick beat the wall and Culverwell into the bottom of the Quorn goal to send the large away following into raptures.

Shepshed could have gone two up on sixteen minutes John King cutting in from the right hand side with Culverwell saving his goal bound shot.

There was a lull in goal mouth action and the next chance fell to Whyman on twenty seven minutes but his shot was wide of Matty White's goal..

With the play now more open Culverwell came to Quorn's aid again saving from Morris on thirty four minutes.

As the game came towards half time Quorn had their best spell of pressure of the half. White saving from Whyman on thirty nine minutes and then Stephen Hart's effort was blocked two minutes later.

As the half went into injury time it looked like the normal pattern of Dynamo leading by a solitary goal was going to reoccur. But Quorn thought otherwise two speculative passes found the head of Brothwell to beat White into the left hand corner of the goal despite appeals for a push on Jake Betts being turned down.

Quorn came out in the second half full of confidence following their late first half equaliser. with Whyman firing wide on forty eight minutes.

The game became a midfield battle on a heavy artificial surface. Morris was the next real effort as Shepshed went in search of retaking the lead but his strike on sixty two minutes was wide. Lewis White then stole a yard into the Quorn area but his effort was saved by Culverwell.

Hart then had an effort saved by White on seventy minutes and Reid was on hand to tap the ball into an open goal to give Quorn the lead.

From then onwards Shepshed piled on the pressure for an equaliser but to no avail.

Morris hit the post on seventy seven minutes and a minute later King's effort was blocked.

Quorn had their only opportunity in between wave after wave of Shepshed chances Nathan Dale should have done better on eighty four minutes firing wide.

Culverwell then did well to save from Melbourne on eighty five minutes and as the game went into injury time he was on hand to save from substitute Harry Wakefield and Hurst.

So Shepshed suffer their first defeat in the Uhlsport United Premier Division and despite constant pressure early on and in the final third of the game. Quorn took all three points with their late first half pressure and second half winner to leave the majority of the 343 at Farley Way going home disappointed.

Despite the defeat Dynamo remain six points clear at the top of the table with games in hand over their nearest rivals. They now take a break from league action with the Kitman UK League Cup Quarter Final Tuesday evening at home to Deeping Rangers and then next Sunday they travel to Bromsgrove to face Worcester City in the Buildbase FA Vase Round 3.
