Shepshed made one change from their last game against Harborough Town Lewis White replacing Reiff Armstrong. Despite early chances it was Cogenhoe who opened the scoring after a mix up at the back. It wasn't long before Matt Melbourne leveled the score and a Reece Morris double and a Niall Prenderville goal gave Dynamo a 4-1 lead at half time. Another Dynamo mistake allowed Cogenhoe back in the game in the second half but a superb John King put the result beyond doubt.

Shepshed started strongly and were causing Bates all sorts of problems down the left hand side Hurst having two free kicks within the first four minutes one evading everyone for a goal kick and the second also whipped in well again with Betts unable to stretch to convert with the ball going straight into Shay Griffiths in the United goal.

Connor I'Amson then had his deflected free kick saved by Matty White on six minutes.

Shepshed continued to dominate the game but were unable to convert their chances. Hurst finding Morris down the right his cross was met by King on eleven minutes but Griffiths was on hand to save. A minute later Griffiths saved from Prenderville and Jake Betts snatched at the rebound but it went agonisingly passed the left hand post.

For all their early chances it was the visitors who were take the lead on sixteen minutes Prendervilles pass fell short on the heavy Dovecote surface and Betts was caught off balance Nathaniel Ansu burst in and with only the advancing Matty White to beat gave Cogenhoe the lead.

Cogenhoe's lead was short lived Melbourne rifling passed Griffiths after Jordan Wakeling ball own the line around the back of the United defence on twenty minutes to put Shepshed level.

Melbourne thought he had given Dynamo the lead on twenty four minutes when he was put clean through but for the finest of margins he was given offside by the assistant referee. But a minute later Shepshed were in front Morris put through down the right to coolly beat Griffiths and slid the ball in between two Cogenhoe defenders into the net.

Shepshed were in complete control of the game Hurst again dangerous from a free kick which was cleared for a Dynamo corner on twenty seven minutes. Hurst strode across to take the corner and Prenderville met the ball well with his head at the far post for Shepshed's third goal on twenty nine minutes.

Straight from the restart Dynamo nearly made it four but for a timely interception on Hurst and thee minutes later Griffiths had to advance out of his area to clear further danger.

Melbourne then headed a long throw straight at Griffiths on thirty four minutes.

Morris made it four on forty one minutes with another exceptional finish twisting and turning Ric before firing passed Griffiths.

Cogenhoe had been kept quiet by Shepshed all evening and one of very few chances Ansu fired over on forty two minutes for the visitors.

Shepshed ended the half as strong as they had started it United's defence intercepting a goal bound effort agonisingly in slow motion going passed the left hand post on forty two minutes and a minute later Betts effort was cleared off the line.

Dynamo went in search of increasing their goal difference in the second half to overhaul Holbeach United at the top the table Griffiths saving from Hurst on fifty one minutes and almost immediately substitution Josh Mundell had his effort blocked.

Shepshed looked the most likely to add to their score line. King's effort blocked, Morris latched onto the rebound which Griffiths saved and the ball fell to King but Griffiths was their to deny Dynamo again on sixty three minutes.

A minute later and Hurst saw his effort go over and on sixty six minutes Mundell and Melbourne combined well but again Griffiths was on hand to save Cogenhoe.

Once again despite all the pressure it was Cogenhoe who were to score next a hurried clearance by Matty White found Carter Price who sent the ball back with venom passed Matty White to reduce the arrears for United. They had their tails up and Matty White was forced into another save shortly after.

But like in the first half Shepshed were quick to extinguish any hope the visitors King's superb right to left curling shot beating Griffiths to make it five for Dynamo after a ball over the top from Hurst.

Shepshed had broken Cogenhoe's spirit and went in search of further goals which in the end would come to no avail.

Mundell was looking lively off the bench going close on seventy three minutes followed by two efforts from Melbourne his first parried passed the post by Griffiths on seventy four minutes and a minute later his effort deflected into Griffiths.

Hurst was then denied Joe Rich on seventy nine minutes and Rich was on hand to block Hurst's effort again four minutes later.

Shepshed continued to press in the last ten minutes King finding Mundell on eighty minutes but his effort was wide. A minute later and Mundell went close again.

Shepshed had one final chance but substitute Tom Mcelroy was off target.

A dominant performance from Shepshed from start to finish limiting their visitors to three efforts all game. One more goal from an abundance of chances would have put Shepshed top on goal difference.

They are now level on points and goal difference with Holbeach United having played three games less than their Lincolnshire compatriots with the two teams yet to face each other in the Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division.

Shepshed have two big games coming up at The Dovecote Stadium. First on Saturday fourth in the table Rugby Town are the visitors followed by another Tuesday home tie with third placed Loughborough University the visitors.
