The Bears started the U 13's season with numbers which is something we have never done before.The sad demise of Garforth Tigers At the end of last season meant that we picked up Jack,Calvin,Matthew and Big Jacob to join us aswell as Ellis who has shocked a lot of people with his talents in a game he has just started playing.A returning Ollie Edison and Lewis Beal gave the coaching staff a real headache when selecting the team.We started the season with successive wins against West Leeds,Meltham and Hemsworth but it was our first "Tough" test against Heworth at home which showed just how much Sherburn had progressed.Heworth were short of numbers but they were always a team that we struggled to beat.As were Dewsbury Celtic ,but Sherburn racked up win after win simply blowing the opposition out of the water.Wibsey away was our only real hiccup where we didn't really hit our stride at all but with a great cup run which saw us mugged out of a win against Lock Lane (my opinion). We let all the so called "Big" teams know that Sherburn Bears are not going to lay down to anyone.
Finishing the season for the summer break with a great victory away at Methley only to lose the return fixture three days later was a shame but the season is long and there are plenty of opportunities for Methley to have an off day.So we currently sit second in the league,and all we can do is pick up where we left off and continue playing as a team.
Each and every player can be proud of what you all have achieved this season so far.You all deserve to win this league and the coaches,parents and supporters will be behind you all the way.
