Shipston were awarded a walk over victory against Upton on Saturday, as the visitors were unable to muster a side together. Upton did however honour the fixture and came over to Mayo Road with 12 players so that the Rams were able to play a fixture in front of an expectant VP's day crowd. After lending Upton a few players (big thanks go to Steve Baker, Matt Tofts, George Wilcox and Huw Williams for helping the opposition out) a match got under way.
It was a beautiful day for running rugby and the Rams were desperate to give the crowd something to cheer about, so they set about the game at a ferocious pace and it was too much for the scratch Upton side to cope with. Despite a few silly errors (with too many off-loads going to ground) Shipston were far too strong for the visitors and they racked up points at regular intervals.
There were tries spread equally between forwards and backs and the final score was well above 70-0 to the hosts by the time the curtain was drawn on the encounter.
Shipston travel to basement side Bedworth on Saturday, looking to cement their place within the top four of the league.
