Stow come back strongly in second half to scare us!

The first half was played at great pace and Stow applied strong pressure from the outset. They camped out on Shipston's line and worked through the phases without success. Shipston regained possession and the George Verinder showed his turn of speed with a superb breakaway try under the posts giving George H the opportunity to slot the conversion. 7-0. Shipston were off the mark.
The boys were hungry, they hadn't enjoyed last week's defeat and they worked the phases at pace. George McGinn proved a very inspiring captain and his team talks were definitely a call to arms. He played really well today leading from the front.
The play went from one end of the pitch to the other and Shipston's defence was unassailable. Finally George M flew up the pitch, he passed to Alex who made more ground. Play was firmly in Stow's 22. The boys passed across the back line, until they encountered the hooker who fancies himself in the centre, Charlie Dews, who straightened and dived over the try line, unstoppable! 12-0
Stow were straight back in the game showing quite a turn of speed. George H wasn't having any of it and made a break forwards. Back in Stow's 22 the ball passed out to Sam on the right wing. He sped across the pitch and scored on the left wing, just as well he's fast! 17-0
Next up was Charlie Dews who broke free, the ball was passed around well, until eventually George McGinn scored, no one could have stopped him! As the whistle went for half time Shipston led 22-0

After half time the boys came out guns blazing and then George Hendy who had been in support of most of the morning's tries took the ball over himself. 27-0
But then.... play slowed and the pace with it. Stow sensed an opportunity and took it scoring and converting their first try of the morning. Was it complacency? 27-7
They scored again, despite some valiant tackling from Jonno and Adam 27-12
And again, this time with a good breakaway, to score under the posts. 27-19
Shipston finally woke up again. George H and Alex made good ground, with the ball then bundled into touch. Stow cleared, but Shipston were back at them. Stow attacked, Timmy tackled fantastically and Shipston gained possession, they moved up the pitch and were on the 5 metre line when a forward pass stopped play and the final whistle put an end to a tense half. Final score 27-19.
