Saturday 8th November 2014 - AFC Emley v Shirebrook Town - 3:00pm ko

Match Preview for Emley v Shirebrook NCEL game, 8th November, 3pm K.O...

Tough game away to League leaders Emley...

Statement by Ady Smith...

After starting with good intention on tuesday night against Lincoln and having numerous chances it was the away side who broke away to win a corner, and showing quick thinking they rammed the first goal down our throats, it was a sign of things to come when a minute after another bit of quick movement found Jamie York on his own to pick the bits up from a saved shot to draw us level 1-1...

That goal should have been the one to get us back on top but even with all the possession, and chances it was Lincoln who went in to Half Time leading 2-1 after defensive frailties...

To say i was pleased with the 2nd Half performance was an understatement...!

Captain Ricky Hanson, Joe Mcormack and Adam Sheperd were continuous with positive encouragement, the whole teams workrate, movement and quality was unbelievable as we swept Lincoln moorlands aside with 3 goals in 6 minutes...!

It was good to see Aaron Moxam doing what he does best , creating and scoring, hopefully his change in form continues.

The other pleasing part of Tuesdays game was when introducing the substitutes Jordan Claxton, Jordan Becque and Liam Morris we seemed to take the performance to another level to finish the game, Mozzer scoring with his first touch and a selfless pass to set up Tommo and the returning Clacky showing his qualities, his attendances being thwarted by work committments which we hope to change soon..

Former Tamworth Player Becque is a great aquisition, we will be working on his fitness in the coming weeks..

The shipping of two poor goals is a concern and we will be working on rectifying for future games along with the possibility of a couple more defenders of the right standard to strengthen the squad.

It is a sad occurrence as azzas dad points out in a former column that abuse is being shouted at players and staff , criticisms good and bad are very welcome, so as we can answer them and improve if possible, but abuse is a negative that can start off like a virus and end up like the plague...!

It has to be said though the positive faithfull were tremendous, the Big Brook ROAR could be heard above any fireworks , and all the players and staff were fully appreciative ...

Both Julian and Myself live in the immediate area and are fully aware of the Goldmine of support which can be encouraged to the ground, and as a Club, everyone connected plays their part in building a positive atmosphere at Langwith road, even when our backs are up against the wall...

Saturdays game welcomes Julian back for the trip to Emley, so lets support the Reds in their push forward...!
