A double from Daniel Williams and a goal from Ben Charlesworth helped Shirebrook to a 3-0 win against Rossington

ATT 93

MOTM Williams

It was a very even start with both sides having chances to open the scoring but both sides had struggled to get shots on target but it was Shirebrook who opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Rossington passed the ball back to the goalkeeper and he was closed down by Brad Holmes and his closing down worked as the Rossington goalkeeper kick hit Holmes and deflected into the path of Daniel Williams who marked his return to the club with a goal and the day got even better for Williams and Shirebrook in the 31st minute when he was played in down the left 1 on 1 with the Rossington keeper and he smashed his shot across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner to put Shirebrook in full control of the game and only minutes later Williams almost completed his hat- trick but saw his shot hit the post and Shirebrook went into the break with 1 foot in the next round.

Shirberook came out the stronger at the start of the second half with Charlesworth and Williams both having chances to extend the Shirebrook lead these chances seamed to spark the visitors into life and they had there first spell of play in the 2nd half with them hitting the bar and Shirebrook goalkeeper Levi Owen being called into action to keep his clean sheet but as the game drifted into the final 15 minutes Shirebrook finished strong with Carter Widdowson having 2 chances to extend the Shirebrook lead the first was a header the was inches wide of the near post and his 2nd chance was even closer with his header smacking the post but with 9 minutes left to play Ben Charlesworth put the game beyond doubt when he picked the ball up 20 yards from goal and smashed a shot into the bottom corner that left the Rossington keeper with no chance and sealed Shirebrook progress into the next round.

Shirebrook are back in action next Saturday when they visit Rossington Main this time in the league 3pm KO
