Shirebrook threw away a 2 goal lead on Saturday as Clipstone came back to draw 2-2 in an action packed derby at Langwith Road
ATT 132
MOTM France
It was a very nervy start from both teams with not many chances coming in the opening 10 minutes however after 12 minutes the game was halted after the ref injured his back and was unable to continue this led to a 20 minute delay.
Once the game finally got back underway the new man in the middle was soon in the middle of the action as Clipstone were very lucky not to be reduced to 10 men after Luke Manlove was taken out by a high boot. Only minutes later Shirebrook were awarded a penalty however Ryan Skidmore saved Nathan Jessop penalty.
Shirebrook did take the lead in the 33rd minute when Manlove raced down the left and smashed his shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner as the half was drawing to a close there was another big delay as Clipstone goalkeeper Skidmore picked up an injury forcing outfield player Lewis Warwick to go in goal and 65 minutes after the half kicked off the whistle finally went for half time.
The second half was a very end to end affair with Shirebrook starting the half strong as both Nathan Jessop and Jordan Parsons both going close for Shirebrook however Clipstone were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute but Charlie Dawes saw his penalty fly over the crossbar and Shirebrook soon set about extending there lead and it arrived in the 70th minute when Jacob France free kick found an unmarked Joe Harris at the back post and he headed in from close range.
The 77th minute Charlie Dawes pulled a goal back for Clipstone and in the 84th minute Clipstone completed the come back as Dawes got his 2nd of the game and Shirerbook almost had nothing to show for the game as Jack Warwick wasted 2 chances in the final 5 minutes of the game but the whistle went and Shirebrook had to settle for a point in a game they should have taken all 3.
Shirebrook are back in action next Saturday when Baldmere St Michaels visit Langwith Road in the FA Vase 3PM KO
