Shirebrook Beaten By Eastwood
On a day more for ducks than football Shirebrook result matched the weather as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at home to Eastwood CFC
There was only 7 minutes on the clock when Eastwood took the lead. Eastwood took the lead when a Kieran Knight cross found Gareth Curtis who made no mistake from close range. Then on 14 minutes Eastwood doubled their lead when Kieran Knight crossed the ball into the box and it was headed back across goal for Ross Parker to head in at the back post.
Shirebrook didn’t let their heads drop and they soon started to test the Eastwood keeper with Purcell, Turner and Harris all having chances to pull a goal back but they couldn’t take them and it was Eastwood who finished the half the stronger of the 2 teams but didn’t take any of the chances that fell their way and Shirebrook went in at the break with work to do.
Shirebrook knew if they were going to get back into the game they needed the next goal but that went out the window after only 4 minutes of the half when Eastwood extended their lead further when Joe Harrison free kick found Gareth Curtis who headed in for his 2nd of the game and in the 64th minute Kieran Knight got Eastwood 4th goal of the game but Shirebrook never let there heads drop and kept pushing looking to get back in the game but Purcell and Allcock both having chances as the game was drawing to a close Shirebrook did get a consolation goal back through sub Grant Mitchell with his acrobatic bicycle kick found the back of the net but that was as good as it got for Shirebrook as the full time whistle went.
