Ivor has been associated with Shirehampton Cricket Club for over fifty years, and gave so much of his time and dedication to the club.
Ivor served on the committee for many years and played an important part in the building of the clubhouse back in the 1980s.
He was a key component of the much-loved “Wednesday gang”, a wonderful group of volunteers who met regularly and made sure the clubhouse and ground were kept in first-class condition. They enjoyed each other’s company with many laughs along the way.
Ivor loved to watch his son Martyn play cricket, following him wherever the game took him. Ivor was very proud of his son’s achievements in cricket.
Many members will remember Ivor for cutting the outfield for countless years (sometimes three times a week) and helping out wherever he could, a very capable craftsman with many skills. Never short of a word or two of encouragement or humour, he was a lovely man.
Ivor will be sorely missed by the members at Shirehampton CC. Our condolences and love go out to all of his family and friends at this difficult time.
A celebration of Ivor’s life will take place at Canford Crematorium on Tuesday the 10th of March at 11:15 am, followed by a wake at Shirehampton CC.
