1st Team Mid-Season Review
The 1st XI made a strong start to the season with a 9-wicket victory over Winterbourne. Standout performances came from Freddie Wright (64*) and Nathan Brown (63*), helping steer the team to victory. The next round of fixtures saw the team suffer their only defeat in the league this season, losing by 2 wickets to Twyford House. However, strong contributions with the bat from Scott Johnson (53) and with the ball from Sushmith Satheesan (3-46) ensured the game went down to the wire. The following two fixtures saw the 1st XI bounce back to produce excellent team performances and lead them to victory. A 5-wicket win clinched in the last over of the game against Old Down saw an impressive bowling spell from Brad Spooner (3-31), along with destructive contributions with the bat from Nathan Brown (49), Scott Johnson (40*) & Aidan Kee (33). A 3-wicket victory against Knowle the following week highlighted the batting quality throughout the side, with runs also coming from a range of sources: Mike Evans (37), Lewis Mason (34), Ali Saad (29) & Sushmith Satheesan (24), with Lewis Mason also contributing a key performance with the ball, taking 6-28 off 8 overs. The final league fixture in May resulted in a dominant 6-wicket win over Bishopston, with an impressive chase of 222 in 38.5 overs for the loss of just 4 wickets (Nathan Brown (88*) & Lewis Mason (63)).
June saw the 1st XI’s T20 Cup campaign get off to a strong start against league rivals Bristol. Bristol were bowled for just 103 from 18 overs, Charlie Weare leading the way with figures of 4-26 from his 4 overs. The score was chased down in 17 overs with contributions coming from Danny Conway (33), Lewis Mason (20*), Aidan Kee (19) & Callum Carter (15*). The 2025 T20 Cup campaign ended in the following round with a 23-run defeat against a strong Bishopston side.
In June’s league fixtures, the 1st XI went undefeated, starting with a dismissive 81-run victory over Bohemians. Contributions from Sushmith Satheesan (40), Aidan Kee (38), Danny Conway (33) & Callum Carter (25) saw a total of 210 set, with an attack led by Charlie Weare (4-28) bowling Bohemians out for just 129. The following week saw an equally dominant 9-wicket victory away at Frampton Cotterell. The home side were bowled out for just 114, with Lewis Mason and Charlie Weare both chipping in with 4 wickets apiece (4-24 & 4-25 respectively). A comfortable batting chase was completed in just 17 overs with Freddie Wright (45*) & Aidan Kee (42) leading the way. June’s final fixture for the 1st XI saw a tight 2-wicket victory against Hampset, Lewis Mason starred with the ball, taking 3-49. Again, important runs came from a variety of sources - Nathan Brown (32), Sushmith Satheesan (32) & Charlie Weare (20*) helping ensure not only an important victory for league position, but also a morale victory for the spirit of the game.
The team will be hoping to maintain this rich vein of form into the second half of the season in pursuit of Second Division promotion.

2nd Team Mid-Season Review
The opening round of fixtures saw the 2nd XI come up against Cleeve (currently league leaders at the halfway stage of the season) who went on to win the fixture by 172 runs. However the highlight of the game from the Shirehampton perspective was an impressive debut bowling performance from James Cutler who finished with figures of 3-34 off his 8 overs, Jake Palmer also contributed with the ball picking up figures of 2-56. The following game saw the 2nd XI bounce back well and secure a comfortable 8-wicket victory against Nailsea. Strong bowling spells from Patrick Cooley (3-30) and Ross Geddes (3-28) restricted the opposition to 150 all out, and a comfortable chase led by Andy Geddes (68) and Steve Williams (65*) secured an impressive victory inside 32 overs.
The next two fixtures saw defeats to our M5 Junction 19 rivals Portishead & Lodway. However individual performance highlights came with the bat in particular from Steve Williams (82 vs Portishead) and Ross Geddes (45 vs Lodway). The 2nd XIs final fixture in May came against Old Bristolians - Patrick Cooley (3-22) and Charlie White (2-36) were the pick of the bowlers, with Old Bs reaching a score of 191-8 from their 40 overs. A tough and hard-fought response with the bat saw Shire fall 27 runs short of the total, however Lewis Grace (34) and Ross Geddes (26) worked hard to secure valuable batting points for the team.
June’s fixtures saw further impressive individual highlights, starting a 4-wicket defeat to Old Cathedralians. Andy Geddes top scored and rolled back the years with 83*, whilst Steve Williams bowled an impressive 3-18 off his 8 overs. The following fixture, against Long Ashton, saw these strong individual performances lead to a magnificent 7-wicket victory. Long Ashton reached 167-9 with the bat, restricted well by Jake Palmer (3-18), Scott Cameron (2-21) and Hiten Patel (2-45). What followed was nothing short of majestic from Scott Johnson, scoring his first Shirehampton CC ton and guiding the team to a 7 wicket victory with 101*, ably supported by best pal and Shirehampton CC newcomer Josh Gourlay who contributed an imposing 46*.
The final fixture of June ended in a less successful fashion in tough conditions against Wrington. Steve Williams (42) and Ross Geddes (28) made good contributions with the bat, leading the 2nd XI to a total of 153. Wrington batted well to reach the target for the loss of just 2 wickets, however it was Harry Jameison who picked up both a wicket and run out in the second innings earning the team a valuable bowling point.
The 2nd XI will be hoping to use the boost from these strong individual performances throughout the first half of the season to lead to more team wins and climb up the Seventh Division West table in the back half of the season.
