Shirehampton Cricket Club will stand with Football and will join the boycott of social media platforms this weekend.

This weekend, the Football community is standing together in a social media boycott to send a message that abuse, racism and harassment of any kind on any platform, is unacceptable. The ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ campaign is being supported across the world by many different teams, clubs and societies from all sports and interests, including the Professional Cricketer's Association. Shirehampton CC are proud to announce that we will also stand side by side with these teams in support of this movement.

Much like Football, Cricket is an international sport with an inclusive reach. Everyone has the right to enjoy it regardless of race, gender, sexuality or beliefs. The abuse directed by "fans" towards people in sport from behind a keyboard is intolerable.

Shire CC is an inclusive club with members from all different walks of life, who respect and appreciate one another for our differences. We will be proud to sign off of our social media accounts this weekend to show solidarity with people all across the globe who find nothing but hurt on these platforms.

This means there will be no game updates from us this weekend as the season gets going. If you are unable to join us in person and want to know how we get on, keep an eye on the website on Tuesday for our match reports.

The Boycott will take place from Friday 30th of April at 15:00, to Monday 3rd of May at 23:59.
