With Whitstable prop binned for a stamp, Shoots had a ‘power-play’ at the end of the first half – they needed to make the extra player count in what had been, up until then, a tight game. Whitstable were holding a slender 7-3 lead (Whitstable no.9 having a particularly good say ending up with two tap-and-go tries and Josh Sperring 3 point penalty) – Shoots were unable to make a dent in Whitstable’s lead though and the half ended 7-3 but Whitstable had 15 men again.
Taking heart from this and from some missed tackles around the fringes, Whitstable extended their lead to 21-3 at full-time.
Not Shoots best performance – and to be fair to Whitstable – the score could have been much higher in their favour if they have had better hands in the backs on the day.
