So close to turning over one of the best teams in the area

Cup game of real quality
Arriving at the ground today, having had a late call up (Oli was in bed 25 minutes before we arrived at the ground, we live 15 miles away!!), we saw the Worcester team warming up, and I must admit, i thought we would get trounced. The looked the part and with 7 coaches they meant business.

I did smile when I saw them warm up, all coordinated and in matching uniforms, and I saw our lot jogging around in a slightly less - drilled way.
What matters though is what happens on the pitch, and the lads from Shrewsbury were just about to put on a show.

A strong line up gave our lads the best chance, but it was to be an early try from the visitors that looked a little ominous, but it was the kick start our lads needed.
Our forwards were not intimidated by the strong opposition and some awesome tackles and aggression by Fergus, Angus and the twins, but it was our backs that looked threatening, young Sam (who had been on his sickbed this week), was distribution the ball with pace and it was a lovely kick from 10 Aaron that led to a penalty, which Aaron scored to get back to 5 -3.

The game was very tight for the rest of the half - one of the many coaches from Worcester said to me they did not expect as tough a fight and how impressed he was with our backs and the speed of the ball, so it was against the run of play that they scored in the corner just before half time.

The second half led to a great spell from our lads, Ollie Hemmings made 30 metres and sided stepped 4 tackles, a new side to his game for sure, but that set the tempo. Our 1st try came from the great work by our forwards in the scrum and this set up Trevine for a score, so we were right back in the game.

Soon after the kick off Fin scooped up the ball and passed to the impressive Josh who broke the game line, he was dragged down but Fergus
picked up the ball and made up half the pitch, the ball went through the backs to centre Trevine, who set off on a Joe Wild style journey! he did a full tour of their half beating most of their side, before being scragged just short, but he offloaded to Rowan who scored, we led with ten minutes to go.

Fergus did the same from the kick off this time on his own and won a penalty, Aaron scored again and we had a lead of 16 -10 would it be enough?

Our lads were fighting their hardest but the Worcester boys kept coming in waves, and sadly despite some heroics from everyone in the team they scored two late tries

The final score 22 -16 but it was a great game, and much closer than any of us would have thought

Well done boys, well done Steve's for getting them to this level

So following Wales great start to the weekend and with England to come this afternoon - it was turning out to be a very good weekend of rugby
