Erb leads the way

The Second Xl brought their season to life on Saturday grabbing their first win of the season beating Ellesmere in fine style, batting first they posted 261-3 from their 45 overs, two stand out performers on the afternoon were Adam Keen who scored a fantastic unbeaten 108 and Brad Thornton (Erb) who was also not out on 85 when then innings came to a close, Erb capped off a fine afternoon blowing away the Ellesmere top order taking 6-24 from his 8 overs, there was also two wickets for new signing Mikhil Jhain as Ellesmere were all out for 89.

Elsewhere the First Xl enjoyed another good victory away at Kidderminster, making it three from five in the first round of the Win Lose format, after winning the toss and inviting Kidderminster to have a bat they managed to bowl them out for 127, George Garrett was superb with the new ball taking 5-16 from his ten overs, he was well supported by Mike Barnard who finished with 1-19 and there was also two wickets for Asharn Hodge. Will Parton led the chase and finished unbeaten on 53* backed up by Llyr Thomas who 35 not out as they hit the winning runs knocking them off for the loss of just two wickets.

The Third Xl also enjoyed a good result on Saturday taking 18 points from a winning draw with Pontesbury 2nd Xl, Dom Stone top scored with 85 well supported by Henry Hornby who scored 45 as they posted 213 from their allotted overs, Tom Atkins led the charge with a fine spell of bowling bringing five wickets as they couldn't quite take the final two wickets needed to get the win, nevertheless a good day all round for all three Saturday teams.
