With lighter nights upon us, mine and the committee’s minds turn to the new season which is now unbelievably only one month away! It has been a busy winter for the Club and I hope that all members will be able to reap the rewards of what has been going on behind the scenes.

A very important part of the club is our junior membership many of whom will hopefully play in our senior weekend teams. This communication through the clubs web site (Pitchero) invites our existing junior members to re-register for the 2019 season. I really hope that your son/daughter enjoyed their time at the club last summer and that they want to return this season to participate in all of the plans that the committee and the junior section managers have in store for all age groups.

For those juniors over 12 years old there is again the opportunity to play in the senior league teams especially in the 4th XI where they can gain invaluable experience in the longer form of the game. This season they will again play their cricket on a Sunday at London Road under the captaincy of Ali Pearce and managed by Jane Crouch.

At the club AGM in November the membership elected to maintain the membership categories and subscriptions for a fourth year. These can be viewed on the Registration Form.

Junior training sessions will again be on a Friday evening, starting with Allstars for 5-8 year olds followed by hard and soft ball coaching for 9-15 year olds. Parents are invited to stay for junior sessions as the bar will be open and the club will be arranging BBQ’s on some Fridays throughout the summer.

A welcome meeting has been arranged for Friday 5th April where juniors and their families can learn more about the club, meet coaches and club committee and order kit. It would be appreciated if you could re-register your son/daughter through “Pitchero” as soon as possible but in any case before 5th April 2019. You can also register on the 5th at the club but the earlier you are able to register this will enable junior managers to confirm the training programme ahead of the first session on Friday 26th April 2019.

We will also be arranging a junior presentation evening at the club which will take place on Friday 6th September to be held in the clubhouse. Please put these two important dates in your diaries.

I will be pleased if your membership is continued for 2019 and I hope to meet you at the club either at a training session, a game or one of the social events planned for the upcoming season.
