My name is Dave Somerville and I am the President at Shrewsbury Cricket Club. I am writing to you to let you know of a number of events planned at the Club on Sunday 30th June.
Following Shrewsbury’s win in the 4th round of the ECB Championship knockout we are through to the regional final on the 30th June. We will be playing Barnt Green, who are another Birmingham League Premier Division side so this promises to be a great game. The game will be at our London Road ground and, if successful, we will then go forward to the national stages of the competition.
To coincide with this match, we will be hosting a Cricket World Cup Family day and I would like to invite all members to join me at the club. This ties in with the England v India group game which will be shown at the Club following installation of Sky a couple of weeks ago.
The amount of rain we have had over the first couple of months of the season has been very frustrating but has also meant that we have had to cancel a number of our planned Friday Allstars and junior coaching sessions so, because of this, and in conjunction with the family day we will be holding an additional session on the 30th. Allstars will run from 9.30am and junior coaching from 10.30am.
Details for the day:
9.30am Allstars session
10.30am Junior coaching
10.30am England V India on the TV in the Clubhouse and Club breakfast
1pm Shrewsbury v Barnt Green
1pm onwards BBQ
There will also be other refreshments available throughout the day including coffee, tea and homemade cakes to buy and we also will have a bouncy castle for juniors.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the club on the 30th. Weather permitting it should be a great day for all the family and I’m sure you will join me in wishing the players good luck in the national competition.
