Shrewsbury 2s opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Sue converted a well-earned penalty corner, giving us a deserved 1–0 lead after a strong spell of pressure.
The match remained competitive, but we extended our advantage in the 42nd minute. A brilliant drive through the middle from Olivia broke through the 3s’ defence, and her perfectly placed pass found Bev, who finished confidently to make it 2–0.
Shrewsbury 3s responded positively and managed to break through our defence in the 47th minute, pulling a goal back and keeping the match alive.
Today we struggled with our formation and cohesion, which allowed the game to become more unsettled than we would have liked. Meaning we didn't play our own game. Despite this, the team showed resilience and determination to see out the match.
The result means we remain top of the league, so it’s very much onwards and upwards from here.
