Consistency ...

Dragons on a Roll!

Silsden Dragons ended on the winning side of a 5-3 scoreline which, undoubtedly, flattered their opposition, Bolton Woods.

Playing their home game at Marley because of a waterlogged Cobbydale pitch the Dragons conceded 3 goals . One was a beauty...an unstoppable shot from outside the area but the other two were anomalies where the team let concentration lapse and didn’t defend as a team.

But enough about that because this was a fine, fine performance by a Dragons side that was very up-for-it from the first whistle.

Debutant Leo slotted in perfectly on the left, his pace and control were very impressive. Alex continued to prove he’s the best keeper in the league with good saves, majestic control of his area and great distribution. The three regular defenders , Jack, Archie N, and Euan are gaining so much confidence. Snuffing out attacks and playing the ball out of the defence magnificently. They are working together as a unit. Alfie L in midfield was quite rightly awarded MOTM as he worked tirelessly, made some magnificent touches, was involved in the buildup to the Dragons goals and could have had a couple of goals himself with better luck. Archie P played brilliantly. His close control and awareness is a joy to watch and he fully deserved the two goals he added to his tally in this game. Evan similarly was heavily involved in this great team performance and took his two goals with supreme confidence and style. Billy worked hard on the right, had several chances and apart from some good keeping by the Bolton Woods goalie would have had a goal or two. Harry, as usual, contributed very well indeed and it was great to see him score the final Dragons goal to make the game safe.

The goals were superb. All of them. Two came from crosses from the wing and three with well worked central attacks. All 5 were well deserved, involved brilliant teamwork, and great finishes. It was a joy to watch and again congratulations are well-deserved for this excellent team and their coaches.

Well done to all ... and thanks also to Ben for refereeing. It’s appreciated.
