Silsoe CC come up just short

Our season is under way and having lost the toss we were invited to take to the field by Ampthill.
With no indoor nets available this year we showed some good strength and character to limit our visitors to 227 for 7 in their 40 overs.
This could have been so much better if not for the 43 extras we gave them.
Stand out bowling efforts from David Crick 0 for 17 from a one off 8 over opening spell and from Stephen Pollock 2 for 43.
A steady start from Silsoe in reply began its momentum with a superb partnership of 100+ between Jon Harding (83) and Brendon Kemp (56) the former showing some beautifully timed cricket shots and the latter a combination of clever strike rotation and some brutal blows over the boundary ropes.
Both fell in quick succession and our charge towards the finish line stuttered and stalled to a 14 run defeat.
