Sporting all new black uniforms at our 3pm kick-off (questionable choice?) the Vikings were finally back on track with intensity and fighting spirit from the get go. The first 20 minutes of the game were very fast-paced and competitive with several players left wondering whether they accidentally signed up for a Cosmo game. Both teams had good chances.
Best chance was Real Ale’s free kick missile 15 minutes into first half. However, Vikings took the lead after a freekick situation to the left of box. Møller got the freekick, Stabell put it into the danger zone, and Marck Madsen executed after a kick-about in front of goal.
As per tradition, Real Ale scored an equaliser on penalty shortly after. Our goalie (you know who you are :-) ) didn’t look too good in the situation. To the end of the first half, Real Ale’s goalie was given a red card for saving the ball outside the box on huge Viking chance.
Viking’s smelled an important victory and dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half leading to several good chances of taking the lead. However, even one player down, Real Ale continued to create chances on counter attacks and should have taken the lead in front of an empty goal. Luckily for Vikings, the Real Ale striker somehow managed to hit the post. At the end of the second half Vikings seemed to slightly lose the plot, becoming disorganised and resulting to long balls into the box. Given the distribution of chances, 1-1 was a fair result, which we are sure TGA will appreciate.
A huge shout-out to Real Ale for one of the most competitive games we’ve played this season. Always a pleasure playing you guys. Ref did a very good job as well.
MOM went to Mikkel for a good midfield performance.
