Siri Sports edged out a pulsating encounter in their annual fixture at Charlbury CC.

Nilanka Wickramasinghe made his debut for Siri Sports, in becoming the 40th player to don the whites for the team.

Shami Mendis rolled back the years to score his 4th 100 for Siri Sports after a relatively lean run in recent times. Thushara Rodrigo chipped in with a handy 37 as Siri Sports posted 216 for 6 off their alloted 35 overs.

Charlbury in response started slowly but a thrilling stand between Louis Broad and David Jenkins kept them in contention. Broad scored 51 and Jenkins was run out for 101 (It was thought he was run out for 99, but the scorecard suggested he did indeed score a wonderful 101) in the last over while looking likely to lead his side to a thrilling win.

Skipper Shami made the difference with 2 overs at the death too, picking up 2 for 9.

Amazing game, complemented by amazing food and atmosphere. Many more to come in the next years we hope.
