So proud of our 3 u15s players Abbie, Chris & Callum that played for the second team today, All 3 are only 14 years old, and all played a massive part in amazing win today. St Helens won the toss and batted first. Skem bowled them out for 71, with wickets for the under 15s players Chris Tromp 3 for 17 and 2 great catches. Abbie Wright 1 for 2 aided by some excellent fielding by Callum Till.
What should have been and easy victory, quickly turned in to a nightmare as Skem slumped to 25 for 5. When the last batsman / batswomen Abbie Wright walked out to Join Callum Till in the middle, Skem still need 15 runs to win, and with the amount cheap wickets had already fallen, victory for Skem seemed very unlikely. Luckily for Skem, Abbie and Callum had other ideas & hadn't given up. Under some verbal pressure from the close fielders they remained calm & batted very sensibly, blocking the good balls and picking up runs off the bad ones, eventually getting the 15 runs needed to give skem an unlikely win. Callum finished on 6no from 28 balls and Abbie 5no from 23 balls, both youngsters put all the older more experienced ex first team batters to shame. All 3 where brilliant well done kids.
