Step back in time in United's history, Wealdstone, John Flaherty, United turn up with 7, concede 9.

February 13th

Still with NO football on the horizon, the leagues are awaiting the Governments next National announcement on February 22nd, Lets see where we go from there, on a personal level, I am missing my football, work all week and no where to go to relax and unwind but can the FA really expect that teams at our level can be expected to play around 30 plus games in 3 months.
Those in the Premier League moan at two games a week, whilst lads who are playing at our level also have full time jobs to hold down as well as the footy. I want my footy back but not at the expense of the well being of the players.
Some people want us to return to league games, others want to stop it now, It will be an interesting outcome in two weeks time.

On to Skelmersdale United's History, a quiet week, so step back in time and see what you remember from United's past,

The first priority is to get our act together and get the team and everyone at the club united”

“Poor Peter Warman the Wealdstone centre half, played the game of his life keeping out the eager Skelmersdale forwards, but a cruel stoke of luck made him the cause of his team’s Amateur Cup exit. For it was his body that got in the way of a fiery shot from teenage winger Norman Whitehead in the 13th minute that deflected past a bewildered Blyth and a record crowd erupted.

February 12th 1922- A trip to Rossendale resulted in a 9-1 hammering, although United did have their excuses. As they left Skelmersdale by train they had a full quota of players but confusion whilst changing trains at Blackburn resulted in four players going missing and United playing the game with just seven men. The Advertiser at the time didn’t name the players or the team that started. It was not unusual for team to turn up short handed and there are many occasions where clubs played with just 10 men.
