FORMER BLUE DUMPS SKEM
Skelmersdale United 1-2 Hanley Town
Former "Blue" Sam Turner broke Skems hearts with a stoppage time winner but not without controversy, Turner who made 10 appearances for Skem earlier in the season fired home a perfect 25 yrd free kick into the top corner that gave keeper Torrance no chance, leaving Skem deflated.
The controversy surrounded an incident a few minutes earlier when Conal Gallagher was scythed down in front of the dugouts by Matt Bell, everyone was expecting a straight red, the referee thought otherwise, Bell survived and it was he who was heavily involved into the build up that lead to the winning free kick.
It had otherwise been an even contest throughout, Kyle Blake putting the visitors ahead on 14 minutes with drilled shot across goal that found the bottom corner, United replying through a Elliott Morris penalty, Ste Milne brought down in the box by the villain of the day Matt Bell, Morris's kick being well saved, with the youngster reacting quickest to tap home the rebound.
Both sides had chances in the second half Djalo having a dazzling run before being upended on the edge of the box, Gallaghers free kick going just wide and for the visitors Keiran Brown provided some close calls for Torrance.
The game will be remembered for those last few minutes, when Skem were closing in on their first league draw of the season, up popped Turner to steal the show.
