NWCounties release league Allocations

Skelmersdale United will be facing some new opposition as well as some "Old" friends as they leave the NPL after a 13 year stay as they rejoin the North West Counties League

Formed by the amalgamation of the Lancashire Combination and the Cheshire League in 1982, Skelmersdale United were original members of Division Two.
United reached the first ever League Cup Final, where they were beaten by Darwen after a replay, they made amends in the Cup in 2000 as they saw off Newcastle Town and again reached the Final in 2005, where they lost to Cammell Lairds.
The highest League position was the second place finish in 2006 that saw United promoted to the NPL.

For the New Season there is a whole host of clubs we will be visiting for the first time Runcorn Town, Charnock Richard and 1874 newly promoted Rylands FC from Warrington, Oldham based Avro and Longridge Town

There will be a long haul trip, amounting to around 50 miles, our first ever venture to the Market Town of Whitchurch, situated 3 miles from the Welsh border in deepest Shropshire We also will visit the picturesque town of Barnoldswick, Set in stunning scenery, - known affectionately to locals as "Barlick", (Pic above)

Then there is Irlam, 20 minutes down the M6, we have previously come up against Irlam Town but this is a new club so will be looking forward to our first visit to the Ambitek Stadium and another short trip to Ashton Athletic, who surprisingly enough we have never met in a league game, although they did knock us out of the FA Cup last season

We have our old friends from a few years ago, the original "M58 Derby" with Bootle, and just a little further up the M58 there is Litherland REMYCA, handy for the away support. We will also be locking horns again with Congleton, Squires Gate and Winsford United, all friends from our NWCounties days.

..and then….. the Mother of all "Derby" games we reacquaint ourselves with our oldest foes Burscough FC.

Other clubs we shall face are Northwich Victoria, Hanley and Padiham
