Skelmersdale United's pre-season plans continue to take shape with the announcement that newly-formed Wakefield AFC will visit us at JMO Sports Park ahead of hosting last season's derby rivals and landlords Prescot Cables.
Wakefield AFC are a new club which have been formed by Chris Turner, former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper and Hartlepool Manager and will be competing in the Midlands League next season. They will initially share with Evo-Stik North/West side Pontefract Collieries before moving into the Belle Vue Stadium, the home of the Wakefield Trinity RL.
Prescot Cables need no introduction to fans with Cables having allowed us to ground-share at Volair Park since November 2017 when we were in need of help and facing us in four derbies over the last two seasons in Evo Stik North and West with a few one-sided games following a stunning last-gasp leveller in the 2-2 August Bank Holiday clash in 17-18.
Wakefield AFC will visit on Saturday 20th July before Cables will be our final test of pre-season on Tuesday 30th July ahead of the new season beginning on the opening weekend in August.
