A game that took a while to get going with very little in the way of goalmouth action, United would have been pleased to have kept the Clitheroe attack at bay the closest the visitors came to finding the back of the net was deep into the half with experienced striker Sefton Gonzales having a multitude of attempts only to be thwarted by some stubborn defending.
Whilst United's best chance fell to Elliott Morris who danced round a couple of defenders before his goalward bound shot was well defended by Sloane.

Skem had a sustained spell of the ball midway through the second period without being able to convert, Joe Herbert's header from a Strickland cross the nearest they came to breaking the deadlock. Clitheroe took the lead on 75 minutes, a needless free kick given away by the corner flag was swung over by Baker, Preistley rose above everyone else to nod home from 3 yards.
Clitheroe had to with stand some late United pressure as the hosts looked to get back in the game but on the night luck was not on their side.
